In any show ring, you'll be judged not only on your ability to ride, but also on appearances...yours and your mount's. This is where braiding the mane and tail comes into play. There are countless different styles and looks, and the best way to learn is to practice and try different ways (in accordance with the type of horse and show). Not only will "Thunder Bay" look beautiful, but you'll take a trip down memory lane, reminescent of braiding dolls' hair! In addition to braiding for yourself, there are individuals who will actually pay you to braid their horse or pony! Going rate in our area, about $75.00 per horse, but you've got to get up at the crack of dawn to be at the venues before show time.
